How far out in advance can / should we book? (posted 6.11.15)
We have no limit on how far out you can book. It is not uncommon for couples to book a full two years in advance. Our average booking is about 12-14 months prior to the wedding date. Saturdays from May – October fill up very quickly. September and October have become the two busiest months of the wedding season. Holiday weekends also fill up very quickly.
Can we meet our vendor before the wedding? (posted 6.11.15)
Absolutely. However, please understand that FINELINE staff has to work all week and then work long hours on the weekends. Like most people… my staff are people. They have spouses, children, personal lives, etc. I do not require my staff to work evenings just to meet with clients. If you would like to meet your vendor we ask you respect their schedule and visit us during their regular work hours.
Do we need to meet before the wedding? (posted 6.11.15)
Definitely not. We understand that before the wedding you already have plenty of meetings to do. We do not require a meeting. Our minimum expectation is that you complete your planning forms and have them returned / submitted to us no later than 2 weeks before the wedding. Then before the wedding our owner will contact you to confirm everything and help finalize the planning. If you do require a meeting before the wedding, one can be scheduled at our office.
What if you get sick or die? (posted 6.11.15)
Unfortunately in the wedding business we do not get sick days. If we are sick we will probably do our best to work through it. If we are dead, there is a less than 1% chance we will be there. If we are physically unable to be there, we will re-staff in the case of an emergency.
The contract says I must also accept the service policies. What are service policies? (posted 6.11.15)
The contract outlines the general relationship, promises, and agreements between you and FINELINE. However, since we provide an array of services each service carries its own policies on how we will perform that particular service and handle any issues related to that service. The service policies are considered a part of the contract.
What if you’ve never worked at our venue before? (posted 6.11.15)
Not a problem. We always have to work somewhere for the first time. We can adapt to any situation. If we personally feel that we need to visit the venue, we will.. but that’s our decision. If you request that we visit your venue, we do charge a fee for site visits.

Do you have an assistant / second photographer? (posted 6.11.15)
Keep in mind that an assistant and a second photographer are two different roles. Most of our packages have an assistant to the main photographer. In most cases, a second photographer is an add-on.
How long does it take before we receive our pictures? (posted 6.11.15)
Our contract states that you receive an 8 week guaranteed turn around from your wedding date until we’ve completed editing. Please note the 8 week guarantee does not guarantee final delivery. We can’t control the mail or how long it takes someone to come pick up their materials.
Do we receive our album with our photos? (posted 6.11.15)
We do not choose the photos for your album… you do. Since you cannot choose your photos until you receive them, the album process does not begin until you receive your photos.
We have a very detailed video outlining the entire album process on our album page.
Is an engagement session included? (posted 6.11.15)
An engagement session is included in some photo packages and for others it is an add on. Please check the package you’ve booked or the packages you’re considering booking.
As for the engagement session we have plenty of helpful information on our engagement session page.
Do we receive the RAW, unedited files / files that did not make the final cut? (posted 6.11.15)
No. RAW, unedited files are not included in any photography package and are generally not offered by any professional photographer whether it is a wedding or any other type of photography service. As for the files that did not make the final cut, we have to narrow down the files that we shoot. That’s just a given. If we edited and delivered every file we shoot, the recourse would be that we would have to shoot less. Since we don’t want to do that and I’m certain you don’t want us to do that, we have to narrow the photos down. However, you’re going to get all the moments. We only narrow down / weed out unnecessary duplicates.
Do you come to the rehearsal? (posted 6.11.15)
This would be an add on if you desire this. If interested, please let us know. We cannot guarantee it would be your wedding photographer if your wedding photographer has already been booked to shoot a wedding on the same day as your rehearsal.
Can we give you a shot list? (posted 6.11.15)
You can… but it’s a very bad idea. Some of my least creative days have been weddings where the couple gave me a shot list. This is because we end up spending our time seeking out and creating shots and crossing off a list, rather than capturing real moments and creative moments. It takes time to seek out shots and even more time to setup a shot just to get it so it can be checked off a list. This is time we can’t get back so often we end up taking less photos when having to handle a shot list all day. We know what to shoot. We wouldn’t have 200 brides each year choosing FINELINE for photography if we didn’t know what we were doing. Instead of the glowing reviews, you’d see reviews saying that we missed things.
If there are certain moments or shots you definitely don’t want to leave to chance, then write these into your planning form.
Can we give you Pinterest photos to copy? (posted 6.11.15)
We have a whole blog devoted to this topic. Please click here to read it.
Will I have 1 DJ or 2? (posted 6.11.15)
This depends on your package. Typically our standard DJ package is a 2 person crew. DJ Dave is a 1 person crew.
Do I need to pick all the music for the night? (posted 6.11.15)
Absolutely not. In fact, the ONLY songs you must pick are the first dance and parent dance songs. For your other major events, you can choose the song or have the DJ choose for you. For cocktail and dinner music we have 12 ready to go playlists that you choose from. For your open dance floor, you can choose zero songs, a handful, or many songs. It’s all up to you.
What if there are songs I do not want played? (posted 6.11.15)
The DJ planning forms have a DO NOT PLAY list.
Will you assist in planning the flow of events for the evening? (posted 6.11.15)
Absolutely. First, in our client planning area is a helpful article we put together for you that covers how to organize your evening. But we are also always available to help put this together for you.
Will my video be shot in HD? (posted 6.11.15)
All our video packages are shot in HD. Not all packages include a BluRay. Please check each package.
What equipment do you use? (posted 6.11.15)
Sony NX5U video cameras and Sennheiser wireless mics. Our videographers are also equipped with manfrotto tripods and LED on camera lights.
Will I have a highlight video? (posted 6.11.15)
Only if your package included it or you added it on. A highlight is not included in all packages.
Can people watch my video online? (posted 6.11.15)
Only if you added on a highlight video or purchased a package that includes one.
Will the videographer get messages from the guests? (posted 6.11.15)
ONLY if you requested this. We do not do this by default, and instead only do so if the couple asks us to do so in their video planning form.
Does the bride have to wear a microphone? (posted 6.11.15)
Never. The groom will wear a mic during the ceremony but that mic will equally pick up the bride and groom.
How long will my finished DVD be? (posted 4.21.16)
On average, a ‘standard’ wedding video package is usually somewhere between 90 – 120 minutes in length. The major variable here is length of ceremony. A full one hour catholic mass takes up more time than a brief 20-30 minute ceremony.
Will I receive raw, unedited footage? (4.21.16)
Only if your package includes this. If your package includes ‘additional footage’ this means you will receive the uncut footage during candid parts of your day (getting ready, pre-ceremony activity, post-ceremony activity, cocktail hour, dancing, etc). Parts of your day that are actual events (ceremony, first dance, cake cutting, parent dances, etc) will not appear on your ‘additional footage’ DVD because those events are already in their entirety on your main DVD.
PHOTO BOOTH SERVICE
What happens if my photo booth operator is not ready to start on time? (posted 6.11.15)
Then the photo booth will stay that much longer. EX: If the booth is 15 minutes late to start, then he/she will stay 15 minutes longer. However, our operators show up plenty early to be setup by the scheduled time. We’ve only had this happen once in 5 years.
Do I get a copy of every photo in my scrapbook? (posted 6.11.15)
If your package includes a scrapbook you will have a scrapbook provided. It is the goal that everyone who takes a photo puts your copy into your scrapbook but we cannot guarantee this. Some people, on occasion, will walk off and keep your copy. We cannot force anyone to do something they do not want to do, but the vast majority of your guests will put your copy in the scrapbook and leave a message.
Can the photo booth be outside? (posted 6.11.15)
Only if it is going to be covered (under a tent of some kind) and on flat, level surface.
