Sometimes it can be difficult to to cut costs and make your wedding day more affordable. After it is all said and done there are quite a few things that need to be on the list of “I have to have” for your wedding. With the help from frugalbride.com, here are some ideas that will really help your pocket and save money!

Want To Save Money?

Here are some ways to save money on your wedding day:

For The Wedding Attire:

  • Get married during the off-season months of January, February, March and November.
  • Have your big day on Friday instead of Saturday.
  • Stick to polyester blends for your dress.
  • Go bridesmaid shopping during the prom season when there are a ton of sales.
  • Shop for your wedding shoes in the summer.

For The Flowers:

  • Do not bother having a second duplicate bouquet for the toss.
  • Silk flowers save you a lot of money and they are already preserved.
  • When you use silk flowers your guests can take them home to put on display.

Cutting Corners On Invitations:

  • If you want a more personalized and cost effective invitation, make them yourself.
  • Order your invitations over the internet instead of a printing shop.
  • Order a plain invitation and decorate it yourself. This also helps your invitation look exactly the way you want it to look.

Save Money On Favours:

  • Some bomboniere stores decorate the gift you buy for free, so make sure you ask!
  • THE BEST IDEA YET: Do not buy some trinket that will be thrown into a drawer and no one will ever look at again until their spring cleaning. Make a donation to a charity. This is a new idea that brides are choosing. Pick a cause that means something to you.

Oh The Makeup And Hair:

  • Try to have your hair and makeup done somewhere together for a cheaper cost.
  • Only the bride needs a trial-run for her hair and makeup.
  • If hair accessories are something you want to include make sure you buy them yourself and not through the hair stylist because they will cost much more.

Saving Money On Transportation:

  • Shop around for limousine companies because there are a ton out there.
  • There is no rule saying you need a stretch limo.
  • You can save money by renting your vehicles from Budget, Hertz, etc. They all have new model luxury cars, sports cars and SUV’s.
  • See if a family member would be willing to drive you back home because the late night pickup can be incredibly costly

If you follow these easy tips you can save money on your special day!

These are just a few of the many ideas to save money on your wedding day. We hope this helps with the stress of your pocket worries and your hope to save money for that special day. Your wedding day is supposed to be full of wonderful memories and hopefully these tips help diminish the stress of worrying. We want to help save money for you for your big day!

Remember that nearly 50% of the total expense is the venue. Choose the venue carefully. The biggest way to save money on the reception is to decrease the number of people invited. Every 80-10 people you are not entertaining means one less table, one less table linen, 8-10 few chair covers and sashes and 8-10 fewer sets of food, drinks etc. I help run a wedding event venue in Birmingham and we are faced with this issue daily!
